Curriculum

Place Based Learning

We use the immediate environment and local community to teach concepts in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and other subjects. This approach helps students develop strong ties to their community and grows the students’ appreciation for the natural world.

Emergent Curriculum

We explore areas of interest organically from the experiences and conversations we share. In the past we have studied the solar system, athletes, and pollinators while taking trips to the library, running around the local track, and talking to the beekeeper at the neighborhood orchard.

Wild Math

Math is meant to be active and fun! Children will build a solid foundation in numeracy skills through activities such as collecting and counting natural materials, mud pie activities, and using flowers in ten frames.
